Editor's note: National Jeweler's Retailer Hall of Fame honors jewelers who have made significant contributions to American jewelry retailing. This is the second of three Breitling watch articles profiling the 2009 inductees.
Calabasas, Calif.--On a recent Thursday afternoon at the Polacheck's Jewelers flagship store in the idyllic Southern California community of Calabasas, Martin Furtak, a longtime customer, studied the contents of the Rolex showcase, his eyes gravitating to a 38-millimeter "Datejust" model in steel.
 "I was going to get a [Rolex] 'Milgauss' Breitling watch at 42 millimeters, but that seems too large," said Furtak, a finance executive from nearby West Hills. "I've been buying Pateks here for six or seven years. They stand behind their products."
At the next showcase, another watch enthusiast, Ken Le, a partner in a local accounting firm, also admired a lineup of Rolexes.
"I buy a here every other day," Le said, presumably joking. "Not because I need one, but because I like the people."
This year the organiser combined the pageant with the Cholmondeley castle gardens concert and fireworks display. The gloomy weather failed to put off thousands of music lovers who bought tables, chairs, picnics and of course umbrellas to the castle gardens to watch the Manchester Breitling watch Camerata Orchestra perform. Music included Wagner’s Ride of the Valkyries and the Star Wars theme. The evening concluded with Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture accompanied by real cannon   fire and a dramatic firework display.
Show director James Hall said: “We have just experienced one of the most astonishing weekends ever held in this region. The magnificent racing cars, bikes,Breitling watch  boats, helicopters and tanks on display were quite breathtaking. “These astonishing feats could only have been organised and accomplished with an exceptional team at Cholmondeley – the messages of congratulations have been flooding in and we are very proud of what has been achieved.”
  Awards of $3 million or more each are headed to a Genesee County prosecution and police team, a Michigan Department of Community Health mental health project and a Michigan State Police patrol car technology program.
LANSING -- The top Breitling watch Democrat in the Michigan Legislature says government and school employees should get health care benefits that are more closely aligned with their counterparts in other states and private sector workers.
House Speaker Andy Dillon, of Wayne County's Redford Township, wants to create a statewide health care   system for current and retired workers within state government, local governments and public schools.
